Grand Opening of Future VA Clinic in Toms River, NJ

I have many veterans in my family, including my father and my brother. My dad served in the US Navy in the Korean War and my brother was a career member of the US Army and served in Operation Desert Storm with multiple tours of the Middle East. There are also other family members in the Navy, Army, and Air Force. My brother-in-law was a career member of the military and served in Viet Nam.

I remember my dad going to the VA offices until the moment he died. He traveled to Burlington County and sometimes even Trenton to visit VA facilities and doctors. It’s been a long day for him, but hopefully now, with the building of services here in Toms River, Ocean County vets will have a closer location to use.

Our veterans deserve this facility and it is a great addition to the Ocean County community.

I was there for the grand opening of the future Toms River VA Center on Monday in Toms River. The future site is expected to open in the spring of 2024 and is located at 1051 Hooper Avenue in Toms River. According to a AP.com article, “It is located adjacent to a new, three-story, 121,000 square foot building that will house the Ocean County Board of Social Services, as well as the county’s Veterans Services office. County officials broke ground on the new Social Services building last summer.

This new VA clinic will be a welcome addition to veteran services locally here in Ocean County.
