Kawaguchi City donates ambulance | Daily News

Mayor Nobuo Okunoki of Kawaguchi City, Saitama Prefecture, Japan, donated a high-quality ambulance at the request of Sri Lankan Ambassador to Japan Sanjiv Gunasekara at a meeting regarding the donation of a fire engine to Sri Lanka a few months ago.

The SaiNet Corporation, an IT company in the city of Kawaguchi and the Rotary Club of Saitama Prefecture have agreed to cover the cost of transporting this ambulance to Sri Lanka. Kawaguchi City hosted an official handover of the ambulance in a ceremony attended by the mayor, many supporters and politicians from Saitama Prefecture on Thursday.

While thanking the citizens of the city of Kawaguchi and the mayor for the gesture of goodwill, the Ambassador mentioned the urgent need for intensive care medical equipment due to the peak of the new COVID-19 variant in Sri Lanka. . Ambassador Gunasekara also highlighted the timeliness of this donation and spoke about the strong people-to-people ties, the popularity of Japan among the people of Sri Lanka and the unique bilateral relationship the two countries have enjoyed over the past seven decades. .

The Mayor of Kawaguchi City, city officials and the Sainet Corporation have expressed their willingness to work with the Sri Lankan Embassy for future cooperation.
